About Dr. Casey Means

Dr. Casey Means is a Stanford-trained physician and #1 New York Times bestselling author of Good Energy: The Surprising Connection Between Metabolism and Limitless Health. After earning her medical degree from Stanford School of Medicine, she trained in head and neck surgery before transitioning away from clinical practice to focus on the root causes of why Americans are so sick with chronic illness. She is the co-founder of Levels, an Andreessen Horowitz-backed health technology company that raised over $50 million to bring continuous glucose monitoring to the consumer market to empower individuals to understand their metabolic health.

Her bestselling 2024 book, Good Energy, sold over a million copies in its first year and is publishing in 38 countries. The book was a catalyst for the “Make American Health Again” movement and was referred to as the “bible” for the current administration’s health policy.

She was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as the 22nd U.S. Surgeon General; the nomination was later withdrawn after a year in the Senate confirmation process.

Dr. Means has shared her insights on major global media platforms, including The Joe Rogan Experience, Huberman Lab, and On Purpose with Jay Shetty, and her episode with Tucker Carlson was the #1 most-shared podcast episode of 2024, according to Variety magazine. Through her weekly Good Energy Newsletter, she empowers hundreds of thousands of readers with essays on health, purpose, and the latest biomedical science to help them live the healthiest and fullest lives.

She is a champion of regenerative agriculture and sustainable food systems; passionate about the evidence-based intersection of spirituality, environmental health, and human health; and the mother of a one year old boy.
